# Express Entry French bonus points calculator

See the CRS additional points strong French earns in Express Entry under the current rules: 25 points for NCLC 7 or higher in all four abilities, 50 when your English also reaches CLB 5 or higher in all four.

Use the tool on the [web page](https://french4pr.com/tools/french-points-calculator). It works without JavaScript.

## How to use it

1. Enter your lowest nclc level across the four french abilities.
2. Choose your english result (clb in the four abilities).
3. Read the result.

## How it works

The points follow the current Express Entry rules: NCLC 7 or higher in all four French abilities earns 25 additional CRS points, plus 25 more (50 total) when English is CLB 5 or higher in all four abilities (IRCC, Express Entry for French-speaking skilled workers and the CRS criteria page; method checked 2026-10-20): https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/campaigns/francophone-immigration-outside-quebec/francophone-immigration-express-entry.html and https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/check-score/crs-criteria.html

The French-language proficiency category in category-based draws requires NCLC 7 in all four abilities plus the instructions for that round: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.html

Rules, categories and draw cut-offs change. This tool restates the published rule on the checked date; canada.ca is the authority. It is not immigration advice and cannot promise an invitation.

> A restatement of a published government rule on one date, not immigration advice. Points, categories and draws change; canada.ca is the authority.

## Questions

### Does French have to be my first language for the bonus?

No. The additional points apply even when French is your second official language, as long as all four abilities reach NCLC 7.

### Which French tests count?

IRCC accepts TEF Canada and TCF Canada for Express Entry. Other tests such as TEFAQ or TCF Quebec serve Quebec programs, not the federal bonus.

### Do these points guarantee an invitation?

No. Points change your rank in the pool; an invitation depends on the draw. No one can promise an invitation to apply.
