Claims that need proof
Vet a French prep offer before you pay. Lesson 1, 12 min.
Guarantees
No provider can promise a score, an invitation to apply or a visa. Treat any offer that guarantees a CRS score or an invitation as a warning sign. The same is true of a guaranteed seat.
Split the offer into claims
Break the offer into separate claims: what is taught, which test, what fee, what result. For each claim ask:
- Where is this written on the provider's own page?
- Can I get it in writing?
- Is it a fact I can check, or a hope?
A result claim is a hope. You cannot check it in advance.
A listing is not proof
A listing records what a provider's page said on a date. The source note shows where a fact came from. It does not show that the provider's claim is true. A listing does not mean that any agency endorses the provider.
Badges and placement
A Verified badge shows that the owner proved the listing is theirs and pays for a plan. A Featured or Sponsored place is also paid, and a sponsored slot carries a label. A paid plan does not change the cited facts. Do not read a badge or a high place as a quality check.
